Do you have to pay to play EverQuest?
Yes, you pay to buy the game and expansions (either digitally or boxed) then you must pay a subscription which can be paid at different intervals (and resultant levels of discount).
What is the cost of subscribing?

What is a gamecard?
A gamecard is a prepaid card that can be used as an alternative subscription method.
The SOE Game Card costs $14.99 for 30 days or $44.99 for 90 days and can be used for EQ, EQ 2, SWG, The Matrix Online, Vanguard or Planetside (only valid for one game!).
